Famous for the excavations carried out by Sir Mortimer Wheeler in 1951–52, the late Iron Age earthwork complex at Stanwick, North Yorks, is the largest prehistoric site in northern England. The site was probably the seat of the Brigantian queen Cartimandua, and both the structures and the finds from the site reflect this status. A recent reevaluation of the radiocarbon dates has led to a new chronology which has rewritten our understanding of late Iron Age Britain. This book, compiled by Jinjiang museum and Fujian museum, is a report for the archaeological investigation, excavation and research for ancient kiln sites around Cizao town of Jinjiang City in Fujian province. This book includes 4 chapters and an appendix. The first chapter introduces the survey and discovery of the 10 kiln sites tracing back to the Southern Dynasties till the Song and Yuan dynasties. The second and third chapters are the archaeological excavation information about Tuweian kiln site in 1995 and Jinjiaoyi kiln site fron 2002 to 2003, comprehensively and systematically introduce the relics discovered at the two kiln sites. This volume presents a detailed examination of the resource implications of building a large fortress, focusing on evidence from the unique site of Inchtuthil, Scotland, which was constructed and demolished within a period of only three years (AD 83-86). Elizabeth Shirley creates a methodology for determining the quantities of material and labour input required and the factors which affected construction. She then assesses additional structural aspects: roof-framing, roof coverings, walkways, flooring, lighting and ventilation and internal finishes. The majority of the study calculates quantities of materials, working methods and rates and labour requirements for work on and off the construction site. This includes large amounts of detailed information about a wide variety of structures within a Roman fort. The results are contrasted with other sites, including Strageath and Fendoch. Shirley argues that a study of the practicalities of constructing such a large-scale military building provides valuable information about the military advance into Scotland, the everyday life of Roman legionaries and their organisational and practical skills.

Many nuclear and other U.S. military facilities from World War II and the Cold War are now being closed and remediated. Some of these sites have even been transformed into nature refuges and hailed as models of environmental stewardship. Yet, as Shiloh R. Krupar argues, these efforts are too often doing less to solve the environmental and health problems caused by military industrialism than they are acting to obscure the reality of ongoing contamination, occupational illnesses, and general conditions of exposure. By Wendelle Stevens (Author): There has been so much misinformation passed around by less than well informed self-styled UFO "experts" who have not been to the contact sites, have never talked to the witnesses, or the photographic laboratories who processed the original pictures, or the agencies who analyzed the recorded sounds of the spacecraft, or the laboratories who examined the physical specimens, or anything else in this case, that I have decided to release my notes in this preliminary report. The organization is roughly chronological covering the five years of my involvement in the order that I experienced it and showing the surprises as I encountered them. There were surprises all right, and there were other developments that one who has examined a number of UFO cases comes to expect but which are extremely bizarre to the witness when he experiences them for the first time. Like all UFO cases, without exception, there are very strange aspects to this long-term on-going series of contact events, evidence for which is highly elusive. We have tried to deal with the evidence that could be examined and tested in an objective manner, always keeping in mind a sincere conviction that a given item of evidence demonstrably valid does not make the rest valid any more than a false lead makes it all false. We have encountered spectacular truths as well as spectacular misperceptions and misunderstandings all in this one case. If anything in particular could be said about this case that sets it apart from all others, it would be the great amount of evidence available for testing and the unusually large number of participating witnesses to these events as they unfolded. I feel as qualified as any outsider to report this very extensive UFO contact case because I have maintained a very close contact with it and all the principals involved for five years, and have lived with them on their property for over 71 days in all.

Excavations at the adjacent sites of Gorham's Cave and Vanguard Cave have yielded a rich combination of archaeological and palaeoenvironmental finds covering a timespan of over 100,000 years.
